Full time long-term substitute 3rd grade, St. Therese School, Munhall

St. Therese School is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and student-focused Long-Term Substitute Teacher for our Third Grade classroom. The successful candidate will provide a nurturing and engaging learning environment while delivering high-quality instruction aligned with Pennsylvania academic standards and the mission of Catholic education. Candidates holding a Reading Specialist certification are strongly preferred, as literacy development and strong reading instruction are key components of student success at the elementary level.
Essential Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging daily instruction in all core subject areas, including Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Religion.
• Create and maintain a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment that promotes student growth and success.
• Teach and model Catholic values and principles while supporting the mission and traditions of the school.
• Utilize age-appropriate technology to enhance learning, engagement, collaboration, and digital literacy.
• Assess student progress through formal and informal methods and maintain accurate academic records.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with parents, administration, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom activities.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to support school initiatives and student success.
• Maintain classroom routines, procedures, and expectations that encourage responsibility, respect, and self-discipline.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as requested.

 
Qualifications

• Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certification:
  • Elementary Education K–4 (Required)
• Reading Specialist Certification (Preferred)
• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
• Previous elementary teaching experience preferred.

Required Clearances
Successful candidates must obtain and maintain all required Pennsylvania clearances and diocesan requirements, including:

• Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
• FBI Fingerprint Clearance (if applicable)
