Saint Luke the Evangelist Pastoral Associate Position
Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Pastoral Associate. Our parish has a vibrant and growing Catholic community which serves two campuses—Saints John & Paul in Franklin Park and Good Samaritan in Ambridge. Serving approximately 4,500 families, including an expanding Latino faith community, the parish is committed to fostering spiritual growth and community engagement.
Reporting directly to the Pastor, the Pastoral Associate will work collaboratively with the Pastoral Council and parish leadership, including the Finance and Human Resource Directors. Key responsibilities include supervising staff, coordinating parish events (liturgical, social, and fundraising), overseeing outreach programs and ministries, and managing complex scheduling needs. Candidates MUST have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to support strategic planning and implementation efforts and complex scheduling across both parish campuses.
Skills and Education
Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing, committed to the teachings and mission of the Church.
Bachelor's degree in Theology, Pastoral Studies, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
3–5 years of experience managing parish or organizational programs, including staff and volunteer supervision.
Preferred experience in various aspects of parish life, such as liturgy, adult catechesis, religious education, evangelization, social outreach and facilities.
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage teams effectively.
Strong technical skills preferred, including familiarity with platforms like Microsoft Office, PDS, Flocknote, and scheduling tools.
Must be detail-oriented and self-motivated.
Pastoral Responsibilities
Collaborates with the Pastor, Leadership Team, and Pastoral Council to develop and implement strategic parish initiatives.
Supports the ongoing formation and professional development of parish staff, ministry leaders, and parish groups.
Oversees specific parish programs and ministries, based on parish needs and the Pastoral Associate’s qualifications and experience.
Possesses a strong understanding of Catholic liturgy and experience with faith formation programming.
Demonstrates skill in team building, staff supervision, and volunteer coordination.
Works with staff and volunteers to plan and execute parish-wide events such as outreach initiatives, ministry programs, volunteer appreciation, and the annual parish picnic.
